How to read a welcome bonus before you claim it
Start with the wagering requirement
The wagering requirement is the most important term. It tells you how many times you must play through the bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings. For example, a 30x requirement on a RM200 bonus means you need to wager RM6,000 in total. Always confirm whether the requirement applies to the bonus only or to the bonus plus deposit.
A lower multiple is better for you. If you see a requirement above 40x, the bonus becomes much harder to clear. Compare this number across offers on the same platform. The site may list it in the terms and conditions under a section labelled "wagering" or "playthrough". Write it down before you deposit.
Check game contribution percentages
Not every game counts equally towards the wagering requirement. Slots often contribute 100%, but table games like blackjack or roulette may only count 10% or even 0%. If you prefer live dealer games, check the contribution rate first. A bonus that seems good for slots can be nearly worthless for table play.
On the platform, the contribution table is usually listed in the bonus terms. Look for a section called "game weightings" or "eligible games". If a game you enjoy contributes only a small percentage, you will need to wager much more money to meet the requirement. Choose a bonus that matches the games you actually play.
Note the expiry period and maximum bet limit
A welcome bonus does not last forever. The expiry period tells you how many days you have to meet the wagering requirement. Common periods are 7, 14, or 30 days from the date you claim the bonus. If you do not complete the playthrough in time, the bonus and any winnings are forfeited. Mark the expiry date on your calendar.
There is also usually a maximum bet limit while the bonus is active. For example, you may not be allowed to place a single bet above RM30. If you exceed this limit, the site can void the bonus and confiscate winnings. Check the terms for phrases like "max bet" or "bet limit". Stay within that limit until the wagering is done.
Read the excluded countries and duplicate accounts rule
Some welcome bonuses are restricted to Malaysian residents only. If you hold a passport from another country, you may not be eligible. The terms will list excluded countries or regions. Additionally, the platform allows only one welcome bonus per person, household, IP address, or device. Opening multiple accounts to claim it again is a violation.
If you have previously claimed a welcome bonus on the same site, you cannot claim another one. The system checks your name, email, and bank account details. Violating the duplicate account rule typically results in forfeiture of all winnings and account closure. Read this section carefully to ensure you are eligible before you deposit.
